World After (Penryn & the End of Days, Book 2)

World After - Susan Ee while some parts of the book were drawn out longer than need, I really did enjoy it overall. penryn and her mom ( WIll we find out her name? maybe it is significant?) really make me love the book even during the slow scenes. definitely will be reading the last installment.

These Broken Stars

These Broken Stars - Amie Kaufman, Meagan Spooner absolutely stunning story with likeable main characters and thrilling mystery. fantastic!

also, I understand why it's being called the titanic in space, but to me it was more like the tv show Lost.

Champion: A Legend Novel

Champion: A Legend Novel - Marie Lu Teriffic ending to a fantastic story! Highly rec'd

Raven Flight: A Shadowfell novel

Raven Flight: A Shadowfell novel - Juliet Marillier I really want to say I liked this book, but I have to say that it was 'just okay'. The overall plot is great, the setting is interesting. There is just something off that I can't pinpoint. Maybe it's the MC. She is just too dry and boring for me. Maybe if it was Flint's POV, or even Tali's I would have liked it better. The storytelling this time around was also very slow. Slower than the first book. I found myself skimming a lot. I'm not even sure if I will continue the series. It's just a little too dull for my liking.

Shadowfell

Shadowfell - Juliet Marillier

3.5 Took to reaching the second half to finally get interesting and sucked in.The writing is really beautiful and time-appropriate. Will continue reading.

Divergent Untitled 3 Tpb

Allegiant - Veronica Roth Superb ending to a fantastic series. The science may have been a little off, but who cares when the story was thrilling and beautiful?

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Boys #2) (Raven Cycle)

The Dream Thieves - Maggie Stiefvater 4.5 stars

Definitely darker than the first and made my heart pulse frantically several times. :) Fantastic sequel to a compelling story with great characters. I have to say my favorite are the Sargent women. I think their back story would be a great series to read![a:Maggie Stiefvater|1330292|Maggie Stiefvater|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/authors/1359424840p2/1330292.jpg]

In the After

In the After - Demitria Lunetta I liked the main character but just didn't feel any connection with any other person introduced. I figured the twist early on and it just wasn't compelling. I feel bad because the first 3rd of the book was actually interesting. It fell flat after that though. I will probably not read the rest of the series.

Unravel Me

Unravel Me - Tahereh Mafi Big improvement from the first book of the series. Fast paced and interesting "X-men" capabilities.Warner's development was a big surprise.

Prodigy: A Legend Novel

Prodigy - Marie Lu Much better world-building and characters developed well. I liked that the colonies were not as expected for the characters. Looking forward to last book of trilogy.

Mockingjay (The Hunger Games, Book 3)

Mockingjay - Suzanne Collins The tragedy of the story was realistic. However, the double standard of the main character at the end really killed it for me. Could have been a 4-star.

Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, Book 2)

Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins Better than the first, but still skimmed a lot of the parts.

Insurgent (Divergent)

Insurgent - Veronica Roth Wowzers what a great series....but oh my the ending...!!!

Finnikin of the Rock

Finnikin of the Rock - Melina Marchetta Epic and breathtakingly beautiful

Faces of the Gone: A Mystery

Faces of the Gone - Brad Parks 3.5 stars

I studied and work in Newark and found Parks' descriptions of the city so accurate I thought I was reading non-fiction! I plot kept my interest, although it only gets 3.5 stars because there were a couple of times I thought the MC did really stupid things...too stupid. He's not a super hero, just an investigative reporter, but still, some decisions he made were so naive it was almost unbelievable. But overall, I thought the plot was engrossing and the MC likeable. I would read more from this "series".

Brian's Song

Brian's Song - William Blinn God this was so sad.
